The PPGE internship program is designed to help increase the pool of qualified students interested in pursuing careers in biotechnology by providing additional training and lab experience. Through this program, students develop marketable lab skills, learn to ask productive questions, design experiments, analyze results, and gain insight into real-world work environments.
All participants will atend a training session reviewing basic lab skills and safety procedures prior to being paired with a mentor in a UC Davis laboratory.Students will then work 30-40 hours per week in theor mentor's laboratory for the duration of the internship. Weekly meetings will provide opportunities for discussion of projects, assistance with poster creation, and peer networking. Campus tours, lectures, and a joint event with interns from the Potato Genome Project in Berkeley will also be scheduled.
